Key Requirements:
Under general direction, the Senior Workday Consultant serves as a strategic functional and technical advisor for the organization’s Workday Human Capital Management (HCM) platform. This role leads high-impact initiatives, provides expert-level configuration and advisory services, and partners with Human Resources, Payroll, and IT to optimize system capabilities and align technology solutions with business objectives.
The Senior Consultant provides enterprise-level expertise, leads complex projects, and drives continuous improvement across HR systems and processes.
Distinguishing Characteristics:
This is a senior-level professional classification responsible for enterprise-wide consulting, solution design, and project leadership. Incumbents exercise a high degree of independent judgment, provide strategic recommendations, and may oversee major system initiatives or cross-functional programs.
Essential Functions:
- Serve as senior subject matter expert for Workday HCM modules (e.g., Core HCM, Benefits, Payroll, Time Tracking, Recruiting, Talent & Performance), Prism and Integrations.
- Lead enterprise-wide system design, configuration strategy, and optimization initiatives.
- Advise business leaders on best practices, process redesign, and system capabilities to improve efficiency and compliance.
- Design and oversee complex business process frameworks, security models, calculated fields, and tenant configurations.
- Lead major system enhancements, implementations, and release management activities.
- Conduct impact analysis and develop strategic roadmaps for Workday enhancements and feature adoption.
- Provide expert-level troubleshooting and root cause analysis for critical system issues.
- Oversee advanced reporting and analytics development to support executive decision-making.
- Ensure data governance, audit readiness, and regulatory compliance across HR systems.
- Collaborate with integration teams and vendors to support complex inbound/outbound integrations.
- Develop system standards, documentation, and governance practices.
- Mentor analysts and provide technical leadership across the Workday support team.
- Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Five (5) or more years of progressive experience supporting and configuring Workday HCM in a production environment.
- Demonstrated experience leading enterprise-level system implementations or major enhancements.
- Advanced expertise in Workday business process framework, security configuration, and reporting.
Preferred Qualifications
- Workday HCM certification(s) (e.g., Core HCM, Benefits, Payroll, Recruiting, Talent).
- Experience in a public sector or large, complex organizational environment.
- Experience with Workday integrations (EIB, Core Connectors, Studio).
- Formal project management training or certification.
- Demonstrated experience providing strategic consulting or advisory services to executive leadership.
Knowledge of:
- Workday HCM architecture and enterprise configuration strategy.
- HR and Payroll business processes and regulatory requirements.
- System governance and data compliance standards.
- Project and program management principles.
- Change management best practices.
